In the beginning of 1960 Telefunken introduced the V672 as a follow-up amplifier for the V72. Siemens
issued the V272 at the same time. Both amplifiers are technically the same, with minor differences in circuit, transformer
design and looks. Both units were based on the 0 Ohm input principle, meaning the input impedance is not dependant on the
input transformer like the V72. This revolutionary design gave this transistor circuit a huge variety of applications such
as the mic-pre, buffer, line input, hall driver, leveling amplifier, MS de-encoder, mixing, distribution and if done right
even EQ.
If modified correctly this fixed transistor pre amp sounds nearly as good as its older brother the
V72.
We offer a complete solution for converting a pair of Vx72(/2) to mic/line pre-amp. If you provide
the modules, we rebuild them and permanently install the pair into a 19 inch 1RU housing, complete with built-in 24/48V power
supply, gain control (-6 to 60dB) via two controls, and two outputs( four for a V672/2) with separate polarity reverse switch.
